I'm Stressed. 5 Things That Bring Me Joy Right Now.


Life has been stressful lately. Like, really stressful. I don't even know where to start with talking about my stress and all the anxious feelings that I have been having. I have been just taking one day at a time and trying to figure out little things to make my life a bit easier or a little bit more comfortable. We all could use a few tips to help get us through these challenging times. Or, at the very least, some laughs. So, here are 5 things that I have been doing that have been bringing me joy lately.


1. Roasted Frozen Broccoli


Yeah, I said it. Frozen broccoli- ROASTED! Cooking dinner every night can be such a chore and I want something healthy, and delicious FAST. Chopping vegetables all night is not in the cards for me but I need to eat something that didn't come from a can, am I right? So, here is my tip for quick roasted broccoli.

-Preheat the oven to 425 F

-Open up a big ol' bag of frozen broccoli and spread it out on a sheet pan

-Spray the broccoli with cooking spray (I've been using avocado oil but any spray works)

-Sprinkle your favorite seasoning on top (I use garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and smoked paprika)

-Pop your sheet of seasoned broccoli in the oven for 25-30 minutes until it starts to get crispy bits on it (the crispy bits are the best part. Enjoy!


You can't get much easier then that and YES it tastes amazing and you chopped NOTHING!


2. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse



My son is 22 months old and, of course, we have Disney+. We recently discovered Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and this show is a lifesaver! We are able to sit and actually relax for, like, an hour. It is amazing. Bonus- he is actually learning because they have so many educational bits on the show. I mean, it's still amazing if he wasn't learning anything because I can get some snuggles in.


3. Bubble Baths


Come on, you guys knew this was coming! I know us moms don't always have time to just hop into a bath and soak our worries away but it is so important to get some self care in that is just for you. I like to steal away after my son is down for the night with my favorite bath bomb- spearmint eucalyptus is my current favorite- and just relax.


4. HEA

For those that are into romance novels you know that a HEA is a "Happily Ever After" which means that your book is going to have a good ending and not some tragic ending. Don't get me wrong, I love a mystery or a thriller novel but I need some happy in my life right now. I have a secret love for hockey themed romance novels (I am a hockey player) but I am not too picky on the story line as long as the writing is good. I am currently reading the Boys of Winter series by S. R. Grey and I am on the 3rd book in the series. Actually, I recommend anything by S. R. Grey. If you have Kindle Unlimited (like I do) you can "read for free" pretty much all of her books. I finished "Doctor Dearest" right before starting these and it was also great. Pro tip: you can put your reading device (I use the Kindle app on my phone or my Kindle) in a Zip-loc bag and read in the bath tub. That way you can read and not worry about dropping your device in the water.


5. Outdoor time


Just because we have the "Safer at home" order in place doesn't mean that we can not be outside. This crazy Wisconsin weather has been warm, for once, and we have been spending as much time outside as possible. The fresh air has been good for us. Okay, first picture is my son, so excited, to play in the little play house that I used to play in when I was a kid. Second picture is of us both hanging out in the little play house. YES, I squeezed my butt through that small door! Third picture is my favorite outdoor item- the hammock swing. My grandma got this for me for my birthday last year and this thing is beyond relaxing and I never want to get out of it. Fourth picture is my son, finally, wearing his sun glasses and being too cool to ride in the wagon and also too stubborn to let mama pull the wagon.



Well, there are 5 things that have been bringing me joy lately. I hope that this might inspire you or, at the very least, bring a smile to your face. Surprisingly, writing all of this down made me feel a little better. Just reflecting on the good right now was a really positive thing. So, thank you for allowing me to share with you.
